Classes


Quickly learn all the basics of crochet, from how to hold the yarn and hook to crocheting all the basic stitches, including chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and some specialty stitches. Learn: All about different yarns, crochet hooks and basic notions How to comfortably hold a crochet hook and the yarn Tips to working a chain loosely How to work in rows and rounds How to increase and decrease Complete several projects in this 5 week course!

Cost: $ 120.00
This in-person class is for the very beginner, no experience required. Learn and develop the basic skills - casting on, knit & purl stitches, casting/binding off, and other tips and hints. Over 2 classes on consecutive weeks.

Cost: $ 50.00
So you have the basics down, now what? In this class you will learn how to intermix different stitches to create patterns, learn about gauge (and why you should), different seaming techniques. We will use these techniques to make a sampler scarf!

Cost: $ 100.00
The Papillon- Butterfly Shawl is known for its beauty & creative use of Short Rows. This class will guide you understanding the pattern & techniques used. M1L/M1R increases, Wrap & Turn Short Rows, Carrying yarn up the sides. We will use scrap worsted weight yarn to learn these new techniques & understand the pattern.

Class Policies


Center of the Yarniverse appreciates you for your interest in taking one of our classes.

A class will proceed with a minimum of 3 students, and attendance will be capped at 6 or 7 students (depending on the class). To ensure that a class will proceed, please sign up as soon as possible.

Registration

To sign up for a class, register online, call us at (804)362-7800 or sign up in the store. If you are interested in a class that is full, we will place you on the waitlist. Waitlisted registrants will be contacted in the order they were received. Unless otherwise stated in the class description, all students are expected to arrive to the first class on time and with supplies ready to go. If you have yarn that needs to be wound, it should be done prior to the first class.

Payment
Payment for class should be made at the time you sign up. If you call we will collect payment over the phone.

Student Supply Discount

Center of the Yarniverse is happy to offer a discount of 10% off yarn for the class. It is expected that the yarn purchased is the weight and quantity that applies to the class project. Other supplies, to include needles and patterns, are exempt from the discount unless otherwise stated.

Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy

If the minimum for a class is not met, your payment will be refunded. Determining whether or not a class will proceed due to low attendance will be determined by the instructor and/or the shop.

If inclement weather or reasons beyond the shop's control affect a particular class date, the class will be rescheduled.

A registered student may cancel a class 10 days prior to the first class and receive a full refund. If you must cancel less than 10 days prior, you will receive a refund if your slot is taken by a waitlisted registrant. Every effort will be made to assist anyone in this situation to receive a refund.

Private Lessons

We will make every attempt to assist with basic knitting troubles during regular shop hours; however, the assistance is based on staff availability and is on a case by case basis. Our instructors do offer private lessons for $30/hour. Scheduling is based on the instructor’s schedule and availability. It is possible that the instruction may occur when the shop is traditionally closed.
