CLASSES:

Center of the Yarniverse appreciates you for your interest in taking one of our classes.

A class will proceed with a minimum of 3 students, and attendance will be capped at 6 or 7 students (depending on the class). To ensure that a class will proceed, please sign up as soon as possible.

Registration

To sign up for a class, register online, call us at (804)362-7800 or sign up in the store. If you are interested in a class that is full, we will place you on the waitlist. Waitlisted registrants will be contacted in the order they were received. Unless otherwise stated in the class description, all students are expected to arrive to the first class on time and with supplies ready to go. If you have yarn that needs to be wound, it should be done prior to the first class.

Payment
Payment for class should be made at the time you sign up. If you call we will collect payment over the phone.

Student Supply Discount

Center of the Yarniverse is happy to offer a discount of 10% off yarn for the class. It is expected that the yarn purchased is the weight and quantity that applies to the class project. Other supplies, to include needles and patterns, are exempt from the discount unless otherwise stated.

Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy

If the minimum for a class is not met, your payment will be refunded. Determining whether or not a class will proceed due to low attendance will be determined by the instructor and/or the shop.

If inclement weather or reasons beyond the shop's control affect a particular class date, the class will be rescheduled.

A registered student may cancel a class 10 days prior to the first class and receive a full refund. If you must cancel less than 10 days prior, you will receive a refund if your slot is taken by a waitlisted registrant. Every effort will be made to assist anyone in this situation to receive a refund.

Private Lessons

We will make every attempt to assist with basic knitting troubles during regular shop hours; however, the assistance is based on staff availability and is on a case by case basis. Our instructors do offer private lessons for $30/hour. Scheduling is based on the instructor’s schedule and availability. It is possible that the instruction may occur when the shop is traditionally closed.

COVID:
Your safety, the safety of our staff, and the safety of everyone we all go home to is our priority.  In order to keep our doors open, we are counting on you to help up by following these safety measures:

  • Face coverings are required.  Wearing a mask or face covering is essential to shop in person at this time (by you and us).  If you cannot, will not, or simply don't want to wear a mask--please wait until masks are not required or take advantage of our shop by phone or online options.
  • Hand sanitation is a must. Please use hand sanitizer when you enter the store and before you leave. We will provide it for you at the door and at the register.
  • Social distancing is key.  We have placed floor stickers throughout the store to help customers and employees maintain spacing of at least 6 feet.
  • Save your food and drinks for later. It is not possible to eat and drink while wearing a mask.

If you still aren't ready or able to come in, you have options! Please call and schedule an appointment - they are available 30 minutes before store opening hours and immediately after store closing. We continue to offer phone sales and virtual shopping using FaceTime or Skype. Our online store is here to stay at  https://center-of-the-yarniverse.mybigcommerce.com/  We can also schedule a private meeting through Zoom and take you through the shop. We continue to offer curbside pick-up, free local delivery (within a 10-mile radius), and shipping options.

As things continue to change, we will adapt to provide the yarn therapy we all need right now. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Please refer to the CDC and VA Department of Health for the most up to date information regarding Coronavirus (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html and  http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus/).

All of us at Center of the Yarniverse have missed you dearly. Our dream has always been to build on the wonderful community of crafters, not just be a yarn store. We can’t wait until the day we can welcome you back with open arms...and hugs!
