Young Makers Class - Amigurumi Owls Make and Take (In person)

Amigurumi, a popular type of crochet, is a portmanteau of two Japanese terms: ami, meaning crocheted, and nuigurumi, a stuffed doll. Let me show you the simple basics of amigurumi with this fun project. Students will learn the basics of amigurumi, how to shape little creatures, create different facial expressions, and dress them up.

Crochet experience is a plus but not necessary.

Instructor Name:
Ivonne Schuh
Instructor Bio:
Hi there, my name is Ivonne and I am a German expat currently living in Mechanicsville, VA. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a child, taught by many talented women in my family and in school. I enjoy knitting and crocheting because I love to create. I am passionate about all the fiber arts but my favorite "child" is definitely amigurumi, which is the Japanese word for "crochet doll/creature". I love creating colorful, happy one-of-a-kind items because the world is already crowded with gray and dull off-the-conveyor-belt-monotony. I would love to share my knowledge with you. Let's make something vibrant and unique!
