Crochet for Homeschoolers!
Ages: 8-18
This course is geared towards complete beginners. We will learn the basics to get the
students ready to start their crochet journey. This will include yarn basics, how to hold
your hook, chain stitch, and single crochet. Let’s build the skills necessary to start your
very first project!
Techniques we will cover:
Reading a yarn label
How to hold your hook
Chain Stitch
Single Crochet
Materials:
1 skein of worsted weight yarn
US I-9/ 5.5mm crochet hook
Pen and paper optional to take notes
Skill level: Beginner
Skill Details:
In this course we are going to learn the very basics necessary for
students to get started on their first project. This will include reading a yarn label for
necessary information such as suggested needles, yarn weight, and amount of yarn in
both grams and yards. We will then move into how to hold the crochet hook, and how
to tension the yarn. From there we will learn the chain stitch and single crochet stitches
that can be used for a variety of projects in the future!
Requirements:
There are no skill requirements for taking this course. The only
requirements for this course is that students have purchased their yarn and hook before
the start of class, and come ready to have a fun time and learn!

| Instructor Bio: | Hi yarnie friends, my name is Hayley Secrist. I have been in the craft world since I was a kid, and I have a passion for knit and crochet! I also study fiber arts in university, and love all things fiber and crafty. I have experience working with kids, and now as an instructor I am passionate about training the next generation of knitters and crocheters. With fun and informative classes, I aim to bring out that same passion for fiber arts and crafts in my students. |
